The pool and I aren't friends. As I've begun to embark on this Triathlon journey, I've realized more and more that I am NOT a swimmer. Today was my best day in the pool, probably because I didn't do any full laps. Yeah, lame, but true. I focused today on doing 6-12 strokes breathing every 2 or 3 strokes, really trying to breathe without swallowing the whole pool better. I felt good today and really hope that I'll finally get on my three pool sessions a week routine this week. I know that it's going to take A LOT of practice and that I'll get there soon.
I've been thinking a lot lately about trying Clif's electrolyte and recovery drinks. I would love to go all out and start using the complete packages by some of the crazy nutrition companies, but it is just too expensive and doesn't really seem necessary, especially since I'm just beginning and not a pro. We'll see what I end up doing. For now, it's chocolate milk recovery!
Tomorrow's plan is a run, bike to and from school, and then strength training at the gym.

Finding the Athlete Within
Well, this is my first post on my new blog. I have another blog here, Jesus and Life, in which I talk about my faith, politics and other such topics. This site will be dedicated to my training as a new triathlete, although I'm not really one yet, since I haven't done one yet.
It's been fun starting to train. I've never really done any sort of workouts in my life. When I was younger, High School and earlier, I was active and on sports teams, but never worked out. Now I am trying to swim three times a week, strength train twice a week, run twice a week and bike twice.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up this blog and get into the triathlete blog networks!
Happy training!
